Capture

Ultrathink supports multiple capture methods: browser extension, desktop widget, and direct entry in the web app.

Entry types

What gets captured

Each entry can include multiple data points depending on the source.

From the browser extension:

Auto-save

Both the extension and widget use auto-save to minimise friction.

Extension popup: 3-second countdown starts on open. Resets on any interaction. Saves when timer ends or popup closes.

Widget normal mode: 3-second countdown with file/note label displayed. Clears content after save.

Widget expanded mode: 10-second background save. Continues editing without interruption.

Grid view

The default view shows entries as cards in a responsive grid.

The AI Canvas is designed for research synthesis, report writing, and complex queries that need context from multiple entries.

AI enhancement

AI processing runs automatically when entries are saved. Each step adds structured metadata.

Summarisation

Entries are summarised based on their type.

Images and screenshots: Vision API describes visual content, extracts text, and identifies key elements.

Audio recordings: Whisper transcribes speech, then AI analyses the transcript for key points and action items.

Documents: Text is extracted from PDFs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. AI provides brief, paragraph, and detailed summaries.

Links: Web pages are fetched and summarised, with web search available for additional context. Private domains (e.g., internal tools, login-required sites) skip summarisation.

Text entries: Snippets, notes, and email bodies are summarised into structured sections: brief summary, key points, and action items.

Research notes: Long-form entries get deep analysis with web search enabled for fact-checking and enrichment.

Classification

AI assigns structured metadata to every entry.

Relationships

AI finds connections between entries.

How it works:

  1. Your notes are scanned for mentions of other entries
  2. Candidates are resolved using fuzzy matching and AI
  3. Confidence levels are assigned (high, medium, low)
  4. Bidirectional links are created

Similarity detection:

  • Entries with overlapping topics, entities, or people are compared
  • Semantically similar entries are linked
  • Up to 5 similar entries are stored per entry

Query your knowledge base in natural language.

Examples:

  • "What notes do I have about the Q4 budget?"
  • "Find everything related to the marketing project"
  • "What did Sarah say about the deadline?"

AI searches your entries (default: 500 most recent) plus org-shared entries and returns an answer with links to matching items.
